Professor Sue Beeton GradDip Tourism, MA, PhD

Professor Beeton is Professor of Tourism and past Chair of the College of Eminent Professors at William Angliss Institute. Her 18 years at LaTrobe University included being Head of the School of Sport Tourism and Hospitality Management. She is Past President of the Travel and Tourism Research Association International (TTRA) and founder of its Asia-Pacific Chapter. The author of seven books and many research papers, she was Editor-in Chief of Tourism Research International. A member of Queenscliff UCA, Professor Beeton is undertaking theological studies at the University of Divinity.

Rev. Dr. Sally Douglas BA, BTeach, MDIV, MTS, PhD

Sally is a biblical scholar, theologian, author, and Uniting Church Minister. She is an Honorary Research Associate and Lecturer within the University of Divinity, and she is in placement with an inner-city congregation. Sally publishes regularly. Her recent books include The Church Triumphant as Salt: Becoming the Community Jesus Speaks About (Coventry, 2021) and Jesus Sophia: Returning to Woman Wisdom in the Bible, Practice, and Prayer (Cascade Books, 2023). Sally lives on the land of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nation.

Rev. Dr. Ockert Meyer  BA, BTh, LTh, MTh, DTh

Ockert was ordained in the Dutch Reformed Church in South Africa and is a minister in the Uniting Church in Australia. He is a lecturer at UTC in North Parramatta, teaching Theology, Homiletics and Liturgy. Ockert lives on the land of the Ngunnawal people.

Rev. Liam Miller BA, FA, MDiv

Liam is an ordained Minister of the Word in the Uniting Church in Australia. He is a PhD candidate with Charles Sturt University/United Theological College, researching Christian doctrine and theatrical adaptation. He lives on the lands of the Gayamaygal people.

Committee Chair: Mr. John Oldmeadow BA(Hons), DipEd, BEd, MDiv

After working as a secondary school teacher in independent & government systems, John spent two decades in educational book and magazine publishing. He also served as Executive Director of the Board of Education for the NSW & ACT Synod of the Uniting Church. He has governance experience in educational and not-for-profit organisations. John lives on the land of the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation.

Dr. Damian Palmer BTh(Hons), MTh, PhD

Damian currently teaches church history and missiology at United Theological College in North Parramatta. He has previously worked as a Mission Education worker in a Uniting Church congregation, and as a coordinator of university ministry for the NSW/ACT Synod of the UCA. Before all of that, he was a professional ballet dancer. He lives on the land of the Dharawal people.

 Editor: Rev. Dr. Geoff Thompson  BAgrSc (Hons), BD (Hons), PhD

Geoff is Coordinator of Studies in Systematic Theology at Pilgrim Theological College within the University of Divinity. He previously held a similar position at Trinity Theological College in Brisbane, prior to which he was a congregational minister in suburban Melbourne. He has written widely on the theology of the Uniting Church. He lives and works on the land of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation.

Rev. Dr. Peter Walker BA(Hons), BTh, PhD

Peter is an ordained minister in the Uniting Church in Australia currently serving as Principal of United Theological College in Sydney. He studied history and theology at the University of NSW, McGill University and Charles Sturt University, teaches Christology, Christian theology of religions, and interreligious dialogue, and has research interests in theological frameworks for understanding religious diversity and theology addressing climate change. He lives on the land of the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation.

Rev. Dr. Ji Zhang BTheol (Hons), STM, PhD, DipMin, GradDipLeadership

Ji is a Uniting Church minister and research scholar. Previously Ji was the Theologian-in-Residence of the UCA’s National Assembly, working collaboratively with the Assembly Resourcing Unit, UnitingCare Australia and UnitingWorld. His current research is the translation of ancient texts written during the first introduction of Christianity to China between 635 and 781, reconstructing the doctrine of the Trinity through intercultural dialogue. Ji is a doctoral supervisor at the University of Divinity. He lives on the land of Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nation.
